inspired by japanese shoji screens, i was interested in how little structure was needed to hold something together. the shade is a minimal wooden frame wrapped in contemporary shoji paper that diffuses the light softly, letting the material speak. it changes depending on where it sits and how it is configured; sometimes warm and quiet, sometimes bold. each version takes on a different character through color and material.
the circle detail is a reference to my grandfather’s work. it was something he returned to often so it felt right to carry that forward here
Dimensions: 10”W x 10” L x 14.5” H
